Dr. Patrick Noel, MD, FACS, FASMBS, is the Head of the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Department at Al Farid Hospital, Qatar.
During the early part of his career, Dr. Noel was trained to perform minimally invasive surgery, rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after and respected laparoscopic surgeons in France.
In 2000, Dr. Noel founded the Bariatric Surgery Department in the
Casamance Private Hospital, which quickly became the cornerstone of bariatric surgery in France; with over 6,000 bariatric procedures (sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, duodenal switch, SADI, gastric banding) including more than 800 revisional procedures. These endeavors earned him the distinction of becoming the single largest operator of bariatric procedures in the country.
In 2012, Dr. Noel earned global recognition for his expertise at the Sleeve Consensus Summit in New York. He was invited to present the largest experience in revisional surgery, from gastric banding to sleeve gastrectomy.
A reviewer for Surgery for Obesity And Related Diseases (SOARD), Dr. Noel, is the founder of the ‘Posterior Approach to the Sleeve Gastrectomy,’ which enables faster surgery with a minimal number of incisions and without the use of a liver retractor.
Recently, Dr. Noel participated in developing and launching the BariClip, a new surgical technique in the bariatric field, and became the first surgeon to introduce this technology in the Middle East and Europe.
